FEiN single (June 14, 2021), co-written by Luke Francis Walton and Brandon Michael Woodward. Mixed and mastered by Frank Rosato (same Woodcliff chain as Sidecar and Delicate; Bodies uses Cary Singer / Riley Knapp). 360° live session at KCRW with Ryan McDiarmid (drums) and Geo Botelho (bass), session audio mastered by Riley Knapp — performance video, not a produced MV (FEiN's only MV is #Grownupz). Good place to catch Walton's guitar solo. Not on Little Homes (2016); part of the 2021 FEiN cluster with Sidecar (December) and Scoobert's I'm an Idiot, all sharing the same post-pandemic self-consciousness.
Shame as singalong. The verses run a rumination loop dressed up as ease (days like this are easy to come by), small wins as anesthesia before the relapse into burn out all the light. The bridge does the real damage with deadpan sarcasm, that was super cool / pillow to my face, a greeting to your own rerun.
By the final bridge the escape fantasy has scaled to orbit (hello from the moon) and the outro converts the title question into a prognosis: maybe I'm gonna feel stupid forever. Pairs with Behave (scripts you fail) and Infant (misreading someone).
