CHAI’s WINK TOGETHER remix EP (Sub Pop SP1502, February 2, 2022) repackages four WINK album tracks with outside remixers. Luke Francis Walton’s pass on “Miracle” is track 4, alongside versions by ZAZEN BOYS, STUTS, and Confidence Man: label-listed on Sub Pop and Sony Music Japan. @chaiofficialjpn posted the EP cover out now on February 1, 2022 with @scoobertdoobert.pizza tagged among the international remixers — Instagram post; screenshot on /music/#photos.
The backstory is the important part. CHAI heard Scoobert’s “I'm an Idiot” from Big Hug, a Spotify New Music Friday add, and that attention led to this remix credit. WINK TOGETHER was not a one-off: it opened a long working relationship across CHAI’s Japan catalog: bass, guitar, percussion, backing vocals, recording, mixing, and production, including WHOLE (NHK Koisenu Futari), 夢のはなし (MY DREAM), ラブじゃん（ That's Love）, and Chill Takatsu (CHAI × TAKATSU-KING). Illustrate Magazine’s 2022 feature on “Who Am I Really Fooling Anyway” names the same CHAI and Murakami production thread.
