Second single from Monterrey, the debut LP by LA “future indie” duo Limón Limón (Jason + Rand) featuring Scoobert Doobert. The irony is the title: Hello is a farewell song. B-Side Guys reads it as “a toast to new horizons”: someone you love is leaving for a new chapter, and calling it Hello is one way to face forward instead of back. Melodic Mag noted the Latin-leaning R&B/pop production and the way the song opens up cosmically: take you to space in hello is the image they reached for.
Monterrey is the city in Nuevo León that gives the album its name, and the whole record has that dual-residency energy: Limón Limón rooted in LA but looking south, Scoobert Doobert reaching east. Hello sits toward the end of the record as the bittersweet moment before the close.
Luke Francis Walton's role is collaboration / feature, not production for Limón Limón: he's a voice in the room, not the engineer. A single cross-section in a longer creative friendship. See With Limón Limón · Catalog: collaborations.
