I tell you we got brighter days ahead
Pretty soon we'll sit under a pine
I tell you you gonna be magnificent
We'll get there in no time

Go pack it up, my love
  Oh, Narnia
  We're moving up above
  Can't take it

  Oh no
  People turning funny
Got a little running to do

  I know
  We'll go
  Oh oh
  Land of milk and honey
I could take a winter with you

Looks like we're moving up to Canada, eh?
  Eh eh

We'll pick a pretty pretty paradise
  Parlez-vous Français
  Oh, je t'aime, je t'aime
I hear that Montreal is pretty pretty nice
I could use some freedom again

Go pack it up, my love
  Oh, Narnia
  We're moving up above
  Can't take it

  Oh no
  People turning funny
Got a little running to do

  I know
  We'll go
  Oh oh
  Land of milk and honey
I could take a winter with you

Looks like we're moving up to Canada, eh?
  Eh eh

Am I happy to be hiding?

  Oh no
  People turning funny
Got a little running to do

  I know
  We'll go
  Oh oh
  Land of milk and honey
I could take a winter with you
Looks like we're moving up to Canada, eh?
  Eh eh
Looks like we're moving up to Canada, eh?
  Eh eh

Standalone single (**September 8, 2020**), not on [*Masks and Monsters*](/albums/masks-and-monsters/) (August 2020) but the same season: a post-LP exit fantasy from when America felt unlivable. Luke solo. [Official music video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNmOB8WVc_U); [Backseat Mafia](https://www.backseatmafia.com/premiere-scoobert-doobert-releases-new-video-for-moving-to-canada/) premiered it. Per Luke's note, it started with a MAGA man telling him *if you don't like it here, then move*. The reply: *hell, guy, come to think of it I just might.* A song to whistle on the way.

So Canada becomes a maple-syrup wonderland, the *land of milk and honey* where cold is a feature not a bug and *I could take a winter with you*. The portal is a wardrobe (*oh, Narnia*), the panic is real (*people turning funny / got a little running to do*), and the relocation plays as romance. Verse two is tourist French, *parlez-vous Français*, *je t'aime*, Montreal is *pretty pretty nice*, freedom treated as geography rather than abstraction. The punchline is the faux-Canadian *eh? / eh eh*.

Then one line undercuts the whole whistle-along: *am I happy to be hiding?* Escape or cowardice, the song won't say. Same 2020 political exhaustion as [*When It's Over*](/songs/when-its-over/) and [*Why, How, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah*](/songs/why-how-yeah-yeah-yeah/), but pop-funk instead of lockdown blues, and an exhale cousin to [*2020 Is Over*](/songs/2020-is-over/). What comes next on the timeline is recovery on [*Little Hug*](/albums/little-hug/).
