lyrics: |
  God is on your side
  Other men can't fight
  You can't do no wrong
  You're cut strong
  Set of chess and piece
  Know it's hard, too weak
  You have seen the light
  Not too bright

  Ah-ah-ah
  Ah-ah-ah-ah

You're just a money grabber, penny snatcher aren't ya now?
So cloaked in culture that you don't know you're on your own I…

  Born and raised for this
Got the germs to prove it
  Use those dirty hands
  Promise, yeah
Scratch it up, shake it as you will
Make it every thing you are they'll adore

  Ah-ah-ah
  Ah-ah-ah-ah

You're just a money grabber, penny snatcher aren't ya now?
So cloaked in culture that you don't know you're on your own I…
You're just a money grabber, penny snatcher aren't ya now?
So cloaked in culture that you don't know you're on your own I…

You're just a money grabber, penny snatcher aren't ya now?
So cloaked in culture that you don't know you're on your own I…
You're just a money grabber, penny snatcher aren't ya now?
So cloaked in culture that you don't know you're on your own I…
You're just a shitty driver, Jacob's ladder pour this out
So just laying in your bed I… I… know

**B-side** to [*#Grownupz*](/songs/grownupz/) on [**FEiN Times (Issue #1)**](https://music.apple.com/us/album/fein-times-issue-1-single/907610072) (**August 25, 2014**): track two on the two-song single, **3:18** (SoundExchange). [SoundCloud](https://soundcloud.com/feinmusic/monay-grabba). Walton/Woodward co-write. Not on [*Little Homes*](/albums/little-homes-fein/) (2016); the A-side later became track five on the LP and the viral single.

The inaugural **FEiN Times** zine shipped with a handmade copy of the music and a *Recording Journal* naming **money** as Issue #1's theme. Walton and Woodward introduced their first two songs as *Monay Grabba* and *#Grownupz* (they *like to spell things wrong*): *Monay Grabba* explores **imperialism, Manifest Destiny, and bad missionaries*; [*#Grownupz*](/songs/grownupz/) is the flip, a *pill-poppin, jump-jumpin trust-fund baby that doesn't wanna grow up anyway.* The pair were written in practice rooms, apartments in Venice and Downtown LA, walks to Which Wich, a *little home in Westlake*, and voice notes in traffic, between Rick and Morty, Death Note, and word-play jokes. Drum tracking for what became [*Little Homes*](/albums/little-homes-fein/) began at **LMU** with engineer **Michael Christofi**; mobile sessions and **[Frank Rosato](/with/frank-rosato/)**'s mix followed.

**Music Connection:** [**Music Connection**](https://www.musicconnection.com/) covered **FEiN Times (Issue #1)** twice in the Issue #1 launch window. **Sep 26, 2014** FEiN Facebook (archivist proof: [/evidence/fein-music-connection-artist-of-week-sep-2014.png](/evidence/fein-music-connection-artist-of-week-sep-2014.png)): *We're the Music Connection Magazine new artist of the week!!* — **NMC Artist of the Week** on musicconnection.com: **8.0** total (Production · Lyrics · Music · Vocals · Musicianship all **8**); **Alternative** · seeking **Label, Film/TV** · **FEiN@FEintimes.com** · **feintimes.com**; review names **#Grownupz** and *Money Grabba*, *dazzling electro production touches*, alt-rock with *ADD-like energy*. **Jan 11, 2015** (archivist proof: [/evidence/fein-music-connection-top-25-2014.png](/evidence/fein-music-connection-top-25-2014.png)): **Top 25 New Music Critiques for 2014** (Special Year End Issue — also *Hot 100 Live Unsigned Artists & Bands*) — same **FEiN … 8.0** clipping; FEiN noted USC-alumni acts in the same issue (**Huxlee**, Mora Mora, Kiven, Sex Helicopter, dale).

On the lyric: a believer who can't do wrong, *cloaked in culture* so thoroughly he doesn't know he's alone. *Money grabber, penny snatcher*, *dirty hands*, *everything you are they'll adore*. Same FEiN wealth satire as [*#Grownupz*](/songs/grownupz/) but aimed at missionary imperialism rather than inheritance. Pairs with [*American Man*](/songs/american-man/) and [*Lonely People*](/songs/lonely-people/) as early FEiN Times social critique.
