Lyrics

The good ole days
The good ole days

On a sugar-high
Blowing in the cartridge
I swear it worked last time
Smack it and restart it
Gather round, that did the trick
Burn my palm on the joystick
Rumble pack so realistic
Stop screen-watching me, dude

Take me back
I'm feeling nostalgic
A 90s track
Can you put on The Chronic
Run it back
Wanna see the colors like I used to
What a throwback
Gin and juice and tonic
A cereal box
With a CD-ROM on it
Put it back
Wanna feel happy like we used to

Like we used to
Yeah like we used to
Can it be like it used to
Back to what we're used to
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah

Feeling drunk off Cactus Cooler
On AIM acting cooler than you
Cause I got a new ASCII art to copy-paste
Everybody brought a TV
Getting ready for the LAN party
We sleeping over tonight
Don't fall asleep first
Or you'll wake up with a tattoo
And I wake up with a tattoo
Mustache and a unibrow
Looking like Anthony Davis
Before he had a stylist

Take me back
I'm feeling nostalgic
A 90s track
Can you put on The Chronic
Run it back
Wanna see the colors like I used to
What a throwback
Gin and juice and tonic
A cereal box
With a CD-ROM on it
Put it back
Wanna feel happy like we used to

Like we used to
Yeah like we used to
Can it be like it used to
Back to what we're used to
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah

I am grateful
I am thankful
For all the good times with you
Yeah having that time with you
Said, I am grateful
I am thankful
For all the good times with you
Yeah, having that time with you

Content

Track two on MÖB. The title pun is the thesis: memory plus LAN, nostalgia as a local network where everyone brought a TV for the sleepover. The detail work dates you exactly, blowing into a cartridge, fresh ASCII art to copy-paste on AIM, stop screen-watching me, dude. Fall asleep first and you wake up tattooed, looking like Anthony Davis before he had a stylist.

Under the gags is a real ache. The chorus keeps reaching for colors like I used to while knowing the honest answer to can it be like it used to is no. Ear to the Ground Music heard it as nostalgic and groove-centered. The outro doesn't fix the loop, it thanks it: I am grateful... for all the good times with you. The Möbius move is wanting the past while admitting the party already ended.
