  Arrived from the same connections
Pulling us in the same directions
  Assembled with the same intentions
We were built from the ground up piece by piece

  When we were created
  We were
  Meant to be together
  It's no mystery to me
  Why can't you see
That I've been waiting for you

  Oh
  Genesis
  We were meant for this
  Oh
  Genesis
  We were meant for this

Drawn out in the same old blueprint
Half a soul we were only given
Half a soul we must find
  A similar mind
  Don't you know that

  When we were created
  We were
  Meant to be together
  It's no mystery to me
  Why can't you see
That I've been waiting for you

  Oh
  Genesis
  We were meant for this
  Oh
  Genesis
  We were meant for this

  There is no explanation
  We found our destination
  There is no explanation
  We found our destination
  As one we've been called

  When we were created
  We were
  Meant to be together
  It's no mystery to me
  Why can't you see
That I've been waiting for you

  Oh
  Genesis
  We were meant for this
  Oh
  Genesis
  We were meant for this

  Woah

Track four and closer on [*413*](/albums/413/) (**August 2, 2013**), after [*Tokyo*](/songs/tokyo/), [*Can't Fall*](/songs/cant-fall/), and [*Unwhole*](/songs/unwhole/).

Straight 2013 soulmate pop; the song mostly means what it says. *We were built from the ground up piece by piece*; *half a soul we must find / a similar mind*; *there is no explanation / we found our destination*. That *half a soul* image is older than it lets on: it's [Aristophanes' myth in Plato's *Symposium*](https://www.gutenberg.org/files/1600/1600-h/1600-h.htm), where people were once whole, got split in two, and spend their lives looking for the other half. Where the middle of the EP fractures into refusal and obsession, *Genesis* closes on the simplest version of love this band would record, earnest Thornton pop before FEiN's satirical mask.

On *413*: [*Tokyo*](/songs/tokyo/) (escape + Kokoro) → [*Can't Fall*](/songs/cant-fall/) (refusal) → [*Unwhole*](/songs/unwhole/) (obsession) → *Genesis* (destined repair).
