Lyrics
Late summer gonna call in sick today Stay under covers I am lazy in every way I do not care if you are judging me, judging me I am too cozy to listen I'm gonna take it easy every day I'm taking back my power You can fire me, but honestly You can't control my weather Gonna take it easy, ooo Yeah, I'm gonna take it easy, ooo Good afternoon I'm gonna step outside and then I'm gonna walk until the pretty pavement ends Running farther than any man has done Off the edge of the earth And float around the sun in orbit I love it I'm gonna take it easy every day I'm taking back my power You can fire me, but honestly You can't control my weather Gonna take it easy, ooo Yeah, I'm gonna take it easy, ooo Hmm Will somebody join me, join me? Being lazy can be lonely, lonely I'm floating on an island in silence Won't you come over? I'm easy company I'm gonna take it easy every day I'm taking back my power You can fire me, but honestly You can't control my weather Gonna take it easy, oh Yeah, I'm gonna take it easy, ooo Gonna take it easy peasy Gonna take it easy peasy Gonna take it easy peasy Gonna take it easy, easy
Content
Track four on I, the lazy song that isn't actually lazy about feelings. The DistroKid credit pane lists music and lyrics as Luke Francis Walton, BMI 00579587572. Producer, mixing, recording, drums, bass, guitar, synthesizer, and singing are billed as Scoobert Doobert. Lou Roy is on background vocals. Nicole McCabe is on bass clarinet. Riley Knapp mastered it. Grizzard Graphics did the graphic design. Call in sick, stay under covers, zero shame about it. The chorus reframes sloth as sovereignty: you can fire me, but honestly / you can't control my weather. Rest as something nobody else gets to schedule.
Then the crack: being lazy can be lonely. The title only lands in the outro, after the song admits ease still wants company (won't you come over? I'm easy company). On an album full of u, this is the track that says rest is allowed, and so is asking someone to share it.
Lou Roy, background vocals.
