lyrics: |
  Settled in the sediment
Another bloom, the light I consume
  Cultivating company
And where are you, the light that I knew

Maybe some money will make it better
Maybe I'll learn to love the wound
Maybe I'll feel this way forever
  I'm not getting over you
Maybe I'll write you another letter
Tell you I haven't left my room
Maybe I'll feel this way forever
  I'm not getting over you

  Acclimating desperately
Inviting dust to live in the rust
  Crystalline, inanimate
Shatter now or swallow me too

Maybe some money will make it better
Maybe I'll learn to love the wound
Maybe I'll feel this way forever
  I'm not getting over you
Maybe I'll write you another letter
Tell you I haven't left my room
Maybe I'll feel this way forever
  I'm not getting over you

  Shatter me now
  Culling is overdue
  Swallow me now
  Forever asleep with you
  Shatter me now
  Culling is overdue
  Swallow me now
  Forever asleep with you
  Shatter me now
  Culling is overdue
  Swallow me now
  Forever asleep with you
  Shatter me now
  Culling is overdue
  Swallow me now
  Forever asleep with you

Maybe some money will make it better
Maybe I'll learn to love the wound
Maybe I'll feel this way forever
  I'm not getting over you
Maybe I'll write you another letter
Tell you I haven't left my room
Maybe I'll feel this way forever
  I'm not getting over you
  I'm not getting over
  I'm not getting over

**FEiN** single (**June 20, 2019**), co-written by **Luke Francis Walton** and **Brandon Michael Woodward**. Mixed by Cary Singer, mastered by Riley Knapp, the same engineering chain as [*800,000*](/songs/800-000/). Not on [*Little Homes*](/albums/little-homes-fein/) (2016); later-era FEiN, same duo.

Grief that won't drain. The opening sits underwater (*settled in the sediment*), then the chorus runs through bargains that never land: money, a letter, learning to love the wound. None of it moves the fact underneath, *I'm not getting over you*.

The title does the work. A culling is selective death, what gets removed when you can't let go, and *forever asleep with you* turns romance into burial. The last chorus can't even finish its sentence, trailing off on *I'm not getting over*. No suburb satire here, just a locked room and a stack of refrains. Pairs with [*800,000*](/songs/800-000/) (apocalyptic exit) and [*Behave*](/songs/behave/) (control dynamics).
