lyrics: |
  I met a girl
  Above the sea
  Corona plasma aura
  Sun is all I see

  I met a girl
  With diamond eyes
  All future
  Held incarnate
  I was terrified

  Don't fuck it up
  Oh
It's all I can think about
  I'll fuck it up
  Oh
  She's all I can't live without

  Yeah
  Yeah
  Yeah
  Yeah
  Oh

  The kinda girl
  That gives you breath
  Panic attack
  You might be
  Staring at your death

  She'll pick you up
  Oh
She's all I can think about
  She'll pick me up
  Oh
  She's all I can't live without

  Yeah
  Yeah
  Yeah
  Yeah

  Don't fuck it up
  Oh
It's all I can think about
  I'll fuck it up
  Oh
  She's all I can't live without

  Yeah
  Yeah
  Yeah
  Yeah
  Oh

Track fourteen on [*Masks and Monsters*](/albums/masks-and-monsters/). **Luke solo**, North Park lockdown, **August 2020**. The [album essay](/albums/masks-and-monsters/) names it alongside *It Can Get Worse* and *My Mind Is Slowly Slipping* in the LP's **direct emotional center**, but here the title word does triple duty: solar corona (*plasma aura*, *sun is all I see*), beach-above-the-sea romance, and the beer brand everyone couldn't stop saying in 2020. It's not a COVID PSA; it's love panic with an unavoidable cultural shadow.

The romance is meet-cute as cosmology (*corona plasma aura / sun is all I see*), one person as an entire timeline: *all future held incarnate / I was terrified*. The hook is a self-sabotage loop where anxiety predicts the failure it's trying to prevent: *don't fuck it up / oh / it's all I can think about*. By verse two attraction has become a near-death experience (*panic attack / you might be staring at your death*), the same mortal register as [*When It's Over*](/songs/when-its-over/) but romantic, not epidemiological.

After [*Coca Cola*](/songs/coca-cola/)'s branding satire, *Corona* is sincere romantic overwhelm on the same LP: title pun the joke, lyrics the pressure valve. Opposite register from [*Wash Your Fucking Hands*](/songs/wash-your-fucking-hands/).
