  Tell me when to leave
  Tell me where to go
  I'll never hear
  Tell me when she hurts
Tell me everything you think I should hear

Please understand, this is better for me

  Behave only for you
I'll leave the others, leave the others, leave the others, fuck 'em
Behave and suffer only for you
Then do whatever, do whatever when I leave the room

  Teach me how to be
  Teach me everything
  I'll never know
Lead me to the water though I only drink when she tells me no

Please understand, this is better for me

  Behave only for you
I'll leave the others, leave the others, leave the others, fuck 'em
Behave and suffer only for you
Then do whatever, do whatever when I leave the room

**FEiN** single (**2019**), co-written by **Luke Francis Walton** and **Brandon Michael Woodward**. Mixed and mastered by [Frank Rosato](/with/frank-rosato/) (same engineer as [*Little Homes*](/albums/little-homes-fein/)). Not on the 2016 LP; later-era FEiN, same duo.

Instructions you can't follow, deafness to the script admitted upfront (*tell me where to go / I'll never hear*), jealousy run as a curated information diet (*tell me when she hurts*). The refrain is the line abusers and self-abandoners both use: *please understand, this is better for me*. Said twice, no irony tagged, which makes it scarier.

The chorus is the title contract, public devotion and private permission at once: *behave and suffer only for you / then do whatever, do whatever when I leave the room*. The second verse only deepens the submission, basic need filtered through control: *lead me to the water though I only drink when she tells me no*. FEiN theatrical pop treating a bad dynamic as a singalong, the *Little Homes* social-satire muscle applied to intimacy instead of suburbia. Pairs with [*800,000*](/songs/800-000/) (apocalyptic love exit) as the other 2019 FEiN single on this site.
