## Record

### Folklore

**Summary.** Folklore on lukefwalton.com: odd and funny true things from Luke F. Walton's life that fit nowhere else on the site (the Getty Degas doppelgänger; Minjim Minjum, a name from his family research that went into The Signatories), and the fictional websites he made for people and places in his fiction (cawleen, OUTHERE, Bar Spaniel's, Burt Cashman). The people and places on those websites are fictional; the works and the sites are real.

Folklore at /folklore/ (formerly titled Internet Folklore): odd and funny things from Luke F. Walton's life that are true and fit nowhere else on the site. Coverage is on /press/.

Getty Degas Doppelgänger (/folklore/getty-degas-doppelganger/): Documented internet artifact: Luke F. Walton beside Edgar Degas’s self-portrait at the J. Paul Getty Museum, reposted by @gettymuseum (May 6, 2016), then syndicated through Bored Panda, Greek Newsbomb, Ranker, and clickbait reposts. His original post: https://www.instagram.com/p/8817V4v1l3/ (October 17, 2014). The Getty repost: https://www.instagram.com/p/BFEpvP1RwpE/ (May 6, 2016).

Find Minjim (/folklore/find-minjim/): The proved paternal line ends at John T. Walton. The page traces the leading theory: Minjum Walton of Cumberland, probable son of George Walton, married Sally F. Mann, and John T. is a serious hypothesis for their son. A 2005 genealogy’s Maurice is an expansion of an unexplained M. in a 1997 compilation. Kerns lists Maurice and Minjum as two sons, which is his list and not a proved birth. Luke does not know whether that man is a relative. It is unproved. Links: John T. Walton (/about/walton-lineage/).

Urban Dictionary (https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Scoobert+Doobert): Bobson Dugnut, September 15, 2022: an indie musician who named the project after a meme and wears a dog mask, and who produced the new CHAI record. The same page has other definitions that are not about him. In 2023, Walton and his wife adopted a rescue dog and named him Bobson Dugnutt (https://www.instagram.com/mr.bobsondugnutt/). Photo: Bobson Dugnutt at the Swami’s sign, Encinitas. The beach the second Scoobert Doobert LP is named for, $WAMI$.

Shibuya, World Series Game 1 (/folklore/#shibuya-world-series): Walton was at Fields in Shibuya for Game 1 of the 2024 World Series, cheering for Shohei Ohtani with the rest of the bar. He is in the back right, in a white t-shirt, round glasses, and a blue hat. His wife photographed the television. The FOX broadcast had the room on screen. Photo: The graphic reads Fields, Shibuya, Japan, Saturday, 11:43 a.m. Game 1 was Friday night, October 25, 2024, at Dodger Stadium, which was Saturday morning in Tokyo.

Minjim Minjum (/folklore/#minjim-minjum): Luke’s uncle, Joshua Walton, gave him a family genealogy that seemed off. He checked it against the Mormon records and the courthouse records. The proved line ends at John T. Walton. Minjam Walton of Cumberland County, Virginia, spelled Minjum on an 1831 deed, is a man those checks reached, not an ancestor the records establish. He does not know whether that man is a relative. He cannot go further than that with any confidence. He kept the name anyway, more or less: Minjim Minjum is an Alabama royal claimant in The Signatories. Find Minjim. Links: Joshua Walton (/about/james-christopher-walton/); family genealogy (/about/walton-lineage/); The Signatories (https://signatoriesnovel.com/); Find Minjim (/folklore/find-minjim/).

Fictional websites: off-domain websites for people and places in Luke's fiction, written in character. The people, the bar and the venue are fictional; the works they come from are real. Luke F. Walton made the sites. Each site's footer says it is fiction and links to lukefwalton.com and to the work it comes from, and each site's structured data names Luke F. Walton as creator and marks its subject as fictional (Wikidata Q15632617 fictional human, Q14897293 fictional entity). A fictional person is never a real person, and an in-world listing is never a real event.

barspaniels.com (https://barspaniels.com/): Bar Spaniel's, a fictional craft-beer bar in Japan. In Japanese, with an English page. Fictional Japanese craft-beer bar in When Gods Meet, a fiction project by Luke F. Walton. Not a real business. Created by Luke F. Walton. Parent work: When Gods Meet (https://whengodsmeet.com/). Entity id https://barspaniels.com/#bar, schema.org BarOrPub marked fictional (https://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q14897293).

cawleen.com (https://cawleen.com/): cawleen, a fictional London artist, co-created with Jonathan Gillie. Also a character on the planned MÖBIUS LP. Fictional London recording and live artist in The Signatories, co-created by Luke F. Walton and Jonathan Gillie. Not a real person. cawleen is also a real artist credit: recordings released under the name are credited to cawleen. cawleen is a character on the planned Scoobert Doobert LP MÖBIUS as well. Created by Luke F. Walton and Jonathan Gillie. Parent work: The Signatories (https://signatoriesnovel.com/). Entity id https://cawleen.com/#cawleen, schema.org Person marked fictional (https://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q15632617).

outhere.london (https://outhere.london/): OUTHERE, the fictional London venue where cawleen plays. Its archive lists Scoobert Doobert and FEiN as a cameo; those were never real shows. Fictional London music venue in The Signatories, created by Luke F. Walton and Jonathan Gillie. Not a real venue; its listings are fiction, including the Scoobert Doobert and FEiN cameo in its archive. Created by Luke F. Walton and Jonathan Gillie. Parent work: The Signatories (https://signatoriesnovel.com/). Entity id https://outhere.london/#outhere, schema.org MusicVenue marked fictional (https://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q14897293).

burtcashman.com (https://burtcashman.com/): Burt Cashman, a fictional jingle composer. A major character on the planned MÖBIUS LP, and a credited performer on it. Fictional jingle composer and producer created by Luke F. Walton. Not a real person or business. A major character on the planned Scoobert Doobert LP MÖBIUS, and a credited artist and performer on it. Created by Luke F. Walton. Parent work: MÖBIUS (https://lukefwalton.com/albums/mobius/). Entity id https://burtcashman.com/#burt-cashman, schema.org Person marked fictional (https://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q15632617).

The Signatories (Novel, by Luke F. Walton & Jonathan Gillie; 2026 Page Turner Writing Award Finalist) has its public home at https://signatoriesnovel.com/. cawleen and OUTHERE come from it.

When Gods Meet: Fiction project in progress, by Luke F. Walton. Gods, people, and what they owe each other, in contemporary Japan. Public home https://whengodsmeet.com/ (Japanese https://whengodsmeet.com/ja/). Bar Spaniel's comes from it.

Burt Cashman is a character and a credited performer on the planned Scoobert Doobert LP MÖBIUS (/albums/mobius/); cawleen is a character on it as well.
